Grading Policy 2014-2015

Writing, reading and oral language will be
graded on a point scale using a rubric.
Most assignments are worth 100 points but some final projects will be
worth more depending on the assignment, standards of learning, level of
difficulty and the students’ ability.
Effort is always recognized.
Students must complete all assignments and
receive a grade for each. Grades are
based on differentiated instruction meaning that all students are expected to
reach high standards and a variety of instructional practices are in place to
assure this outcome. Not all instruction
is necessary for all students. Grades
are sometimes given for completion of practice work.
Grades are updated weekly and can be checked
by parents and students as often as necessary. A grading period length is every
9 weeks with a midterm at 4 ½ weeks.
(Note: These % are rough equivalents and may change from
grading period to grading period depending on curriculum, instruction and the
students’ mastery.)
Tests & Quizzes 20%
Reading and Writing
projects 40%
Classwork/Participation 30%
Homework 10%
