Reading and Writing Terms

Copy these terms in your LA Composition book and write the definition found in Writers Inc 233-243 . Study for test.
  1. Theme - the statement about life that a writer is trying to get across in a piece of writing, in most cases the theme will be implied rather than spelled out
  2. Refrain - the repetition of a line or phrase of a poem at regular intervals especially at the end of each stanza
  3. Rhyme- the similarity or likeness of a sound existing between two words
  4. Narrator - is the person who's telling the story
  5. Suspense - the sense of growing fear, tension and excitement felt by the reader
